The No. 8 Texas Longhorns dominated the Houston Cougars in Saturday's game at TDECU Stadium.
Heading into the game, Worthy had already proven himself as a valuable asset to the team, with 34 catches for 463 yards and three touchdowns this season. His performance on Saturday only added to his impressive career stats. In the first half, Ewers' launched a perfect pass downfield, allowing Xavier Worthy to outmaneuver his defender and secure a 42-yard touchdown.
Worthy now boasts 25 career touchdown receptions, ranking third in the school's history. His first-quarter score against Houston marked his eighth career touchdown catch of 40-plus yards and his 11th catch of 40 or more yards. Clearly, Worthy has established himself as a reliable threat.
Not only has Worthy excelled on the field, but he has also taken on a leadership role for the Longhorns this season. Coach Steve Sarkisian has praised his maturity and the positive impact he has had on the team's culture.
After Texas' victory over Alabama, Worthy expressed his belief that the team's culture has improved significantly. He emphasized the unity among the players and their collective determination to succeed.
"I feel like this shows how our culture has gotten better," Worthy said. "It shows how we stay together as a team. Like I've been saying, the culture here is stronger than ever. I feel like we came in here as one... and showed that we are really together and we have something good going on." - Xavier Worthy.
